Two Years In The Making
I probably don't write enough here and I really should... But a few weeks ago I announced my upcoming sophomore record FaultLine!
This record is very near and dear to my heart. It's been two years in the making. A total of 37 songs were written for this album, and after much deliberation it was whittled down 10 tracks. Initially this album was supposed to take the route of a concept album, inspired by Dante's Inferno and the 9 Circles of Hell he writes about in his poem. However as time passed and I fleshed out this project more, it took on it's own form and shape. It became something with a much broader scope because I didn't want to restrict my themes and concepts too much.
So two years pass and out comes FaultLine, a 10 track album which blends together elements of retro-pop, funk, dance, and hip-hop. Some tracks are more experimental than others (Didn't Need) whereas some are your typical formulaic Jeffrey Chan styled dance tracks (Breathe Heavy). I like to think there's something for everyone on this album.
Eventually, I would like to release a video for each track on this album, so that everything has a visual identity. Maybe it's just me, but I feel it's a more immersive experience when you get not only the song but accompanying visuals as well! Masquerade is the final track I've released from the album before it comes out on 31 August 2018.
Watch it below and let me know what your thoughts are! And if you are from Sydney, Australia - I'm doing a special one-off album launch show on 29 September 2018 at Brighton Up Bar so if you're nearby, grab a ticket today and come celebrate with me :)
